Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball sweeps Caltech for second win in a row

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's volleyball team swept visiting Caltech for a dominant 25-10, 25-21, 25-17 win. The Panthers improved to 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the SCIAC.

Chapman dominated at the net with 10 blocks in the sweep and a .370 hitting percentage. The block part started early as Annika Ruud had three blocks in the first four points and the Panthers continued to deny the Caltech attach.

Rud ended up with six blocks while Olivia Harrison had four. Brooke Leslie's 13 kills led the way offensively for the Panthers.

After going up 6-0 to start the first set, the Panthers cruised to an early lead in the match. Caltech led for much of the second set, fueled by five of their seven aces in the match coming in the second set. The Panthers trailed by as many as five points at 16-11 but outscored Caltech 14-5 the rest of the way.

The Beavers were again able to grab an early lead in the third, which topped out at 12-8. Chapman scored six of the next seven points to take a 14-13 lead and never trailed again as the Panthers clinched the sweep.

Chapman won't be back on the court for another week but will face Whittier and DePauw next Saturday at Whittier.
