ORANGE, Calif. — Men's basketball took home a much-needed SCIAC victory over La Verne on Saturday, Jan. 13 afternoon, 82-71.
Chapman cruised, only trailing once at 4-3, through the second half leading by at least seven the whole way. They were led by Jake Heberle, who had one of his best games of the season – 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting and 50% on three-point attempts. Heberle has quietly had a solid stretch from beyond the arc over the past six games, shooting at a 48% clip.
All of the Panthers' five starters finished with double-digit point totals. McKelary Robertson posted 17, Cruz Billings scored 16 and Murphy Caffo and Blakeley Stoughton notched 11 and 10 respectively.Â
Since sliding into the starting five role amidst Adam Damian's absence, Caffo has averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds over Chapman's last two contests. He was a force on the offensive glass against the Leopards bringing down four offensive rebounds.
The Panthers are back in action on Monday when they host Redlands at 7 p.m. in the Hutton Center.
