ORANGE, Calif. — Men's soccer made it two in a row on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4 against the Stanton Elks winning 4-2.
Chapman dominated possession through the first 20 minutes of the game as Dylan Paine scored his first and second goals of the season to give the Panthers an early 2-0 lead by the 16th minute.
The momentum shifted towards the Elks, however, for the next 40 minutes as they controlled the pace of the game. Chapman would take a 2-1 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Stanton evened up the score at two early in the second.
The scoring stalled until Leo Wells scored the game-winner in the 69th minute after Dylan Paine served him a perfect cross from the near side.Â
Jonah Friang tacked on one more for good measure on a similar play, this time Riley Thomas dishing out the assist.Â
With the victory, Chapman moves to 2-0 on the season. They will have their first road test down the street in Fullerton against Hope Intl. on Thursday at 7 p.m.
