ORANGE, Calif. — A statement win for men's soccer as the Panthers take down Claremont-M-S for the first time since 2019 with a 1-0 victory, Saturday, Sept. 16.
It was an own goal off of a Ryan Bridge corner kick in the 43rd minute that clinched the victory for the Panthers as the defense held stout playing a man down for nearly 40 minutes.
Hayden Rouse collected his second yellow card in the early minutes of the second half, but great defense from Wesley Jackson and Marco Rodriguez throughout the game and quality play from the midfield kept CMS to just 10 shots and only two on goal.
The Stags had one final shot at the end of the game pulling their keeper for a 12-10 offensive situation, but couldn't cash in.Â
Chapman gained three points with the victory and improved to 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in SCIAC play. Claremont-M-S suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 2-1-2 and 0-1-1 in SCIAC play.
