ORANGE, Calif. — Men's basketball got back into the win column by taking down the Pacific Lutheran Lutes 83-72 on Thursday, Dec. 28.
Four Panthers found themselves in double figures, with Blakeley Stoughton leading the way at 21. McKelary Robertson posted 19 and five assists, while Cruz Billings and Jake Heberle added 12 apiece. Christian Bood was a nice spark off the bench, scoring nine.
After a Lute layup to cut Chapman's lead to 13-10 with 13:50 remaining in the first half, no team led by more than four until the 7:26 mark in the second half, when Blakeley Stoughton hit a layup to stretch Chapman's lead to six, part of a 9-2 Panther run that sealed the victory.
Momentum stayed with the Panthers in the ladder minutes as Robertson knocked down two of his three triples while soaring through the air to nab his lone block on the defensive end in between offensive possessions.Â
With the victory, Chapman improved to 7-4 on the season. They'll return to the floor on Wednesday, Jan. 3, when they travel to Claremont to take on Pomona-Pitzer at 7 p.m.
