ORANGE, Calif. — Men's soccer took home a big 3-1 win over Whittier on Saturday, Oct. 7, 3-1.
The Panthers kicked off the scoring early when Leo Wells knocked home a goal after a shifty move around a defender after corralling the lead pass from Cyrus Steele.Â
Chapman would add another goal in the first half five minutes later in the 43rd minute. After a foul, Jake Williams hit a free kick from the thirty yard line into the box. Cormac Galvin found the pass off his noggin and headed into the back of the net.
The 2-0 lead would not stay going into halftime as Whittier scored with 33 seconds left on the clock in the first.
Coming out of the locker room, Chapman left the door open for the Poets, giving their offense a few opportunities to score, but Alex Glynn and the defense kept Whittier to one.
The Panthers added their third and final goal on a rocket from Williams into the top-right corner. Williams weaved through defenders to make space for the goal.
Chapman improved to 5-4-3 on the season and 2-2-3 in SCIAC play. Whittier fell to 3-7-1 and 1-6-1.
