ORANGE, Calif. — With less than five minutes remaining in the contest, Jake Williams corralled the pass from Jackson Busby, dribbled around the defense and fired a rocket into goal to send the Panthers home victorious, 1-0 over Caltech.
The Panthers had looks at the goal all game, taking 26 shots and outshooting the Beavers by 19 attempts.
Caltech looked to have scored in the middle of the second half, but an offsides call kept the game momentarily at a draw.
The much needed victory for the Panthers gives them three points and places them into fourth place in the SCIAC for the time being. Chapman will look to improve on its 6-4-5 and 3-2-5 marks against the Bulldogs on Saturday in Redlands at 7 p.m.
