ORANGE, Calif. – A 4-3 win opened the dual season for the Chapman University women's tennis team on Thursday. The Panthers defeated visiting Ottawa University (Ariz.) for new head coach Evan Parry's first victory with the women's team at Chapman.
Freshman Sofiya Khegay won the clinching point for the Panthers with a 7-5, 6-1 victory on the No. 4 court. The Panthers won the match with wins in the bottom half of the singles lineup, including victories from Malina Dahms and Jaya Manhas.
Dahms also teamed up with her sister, Makaylee Dahms, for a 6-4 victory that clinched the doubles point for Chapman. Khegay and Manhas also won 6-0 in doubles.
The Panthers return home next week to host UC Irvine on Thursday at 1 p.m.
