ORANGE, Calif. — The Chapman University women's soccer program hosted Pomona-Pitzer Saturday evening during a torrential down pour on and off on Wilson Field. Chapman competed hard with the top-ranked Sagehens, but fell 1-0.
Junior starting goalkeeper Siena Gomez had a monster game, stopping multiple shots on goal by the Sagehens. Late in the first half, Gomez timed a ball perfectly and reached out her bent leg to punch away a ground ball shot that came flying at her. The Chapman bench exploded as a result.
Defensively, the Panthers continued stopping the Pomona-Pitzer attack. Even during plays with multiple shot attempts, the Chapman back line held strong.
Avery Robinson and
Sydney Mills held down the back line all ninety minutes despite Pomona-Pitzer getting nine shots on goal.
10 minutes into the second half, Pomona-Pitzer netted their first and only goal of the game. Despite the lone goal, the Panthers bounced back strongly. Senior

Chapman will look to bounce back as they gear up to play at Redlands on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
