Hester pitches softball in to winner-take-all game

Miranda Murphy delivered the big hit in the seventh

ORANGE, Calif. – A seventh inning rally and a complete game effort from Ashley Hester forced a winner-take-all game to decide the SCIAC Postseason Tournament champion. The Panthers scored twice in the seventh for a comeback 3-2 win.

Miranda Murphy delivered the game-winner with a bouncer up the middle to score both runs in the seventh.  A pair of walks and a fielder's choice  had loaded the bases for Murphy.

While Murphy delivered the heroic moment, Hester kept the Panthers in the game until the offense jump-started in the seventh. She allowed a two-run double in the second, but retired seven in a row from the third through the fifth. She then worked her way out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth to keep the Panthers down a run heading into the seventh.

She struck out one in her first complete game win of the year. The Panthers and CMS will square off one more time for the SCIAC Tournament title.
