The Chapman University women's soccer defeated the University of Redlands 2-0. The Panthers evened their SCIAC record at 3-3-2 as they head into the final four games of the regular season.
Junior Sydney Karjian led the way for the Panthers by taking advantage of a penalty kick and netting the first goal of the game. Karjian's goal came shortly into the second half, after the Panthers found their rhythm. Chapman dominated offensively, controlling the play with eight corner kicks and outshooting Redlands 17–10.
Energized, the Panthers did not let up offensively. Sophomore
Rania Fikri crossed the ball in the box finding sophomore
Alexis Sweeney, who finished it into the back of the net for the Panthers second goal of the night.Â
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper
Bella Barretto held strong, saving six shots. Barretto earned her second shutout within the last three games.Â
The Panthers will look to keep the tempo up as they travel to Occidental College on Saturday, Oct. 18, looking to climb into the top half of the conference standings.
