ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman baseball dropped its final home game of the season, 5-0, to open this weekend's series against Cal Lutheran.
The Panthers' bats failed to get going, as only three runners got into scoring position all game. Their biggest chance came in the eighth, with the bases loaded and two outs, but Chapman failed to cash in.
Brandon Menzel threw his second complete game of the season, allowing three earned and thirteen hits while recording four strikeouts.
The Panthers' only shot at reaching the SCIAC tournament is a doubleheader sweep of the Kingsmen tomorrow in Thousand Oaks. Game times are slated for 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
