ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's tennis team picked up its first dual win of the season with a 5-4 victory over Kenyon. The Panthers improved to 1-1 with the win.
Alexis Golin clinched the match for the Panthers with her second straight win at the No. 1 match. Her 6-4, 6-4 win in the top singles match gave the Panthers their fifth team point for the team win.
Golin's win came after the Panthers; doubles teams took two out of three points to open the match.
Olivia Desso and
Lucy Erickson lost a8-6 in the top doubles match while Chole Candelina and
Jaya Manhas won by the same score at No. 3. Golin and
Brooke Waite teamed up for an 8-7 win at No. 2.
Racquel Fhima took a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 and
Lily Kresser won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 to bring Chapman within a point of clinching .
The Panthers played their second 5-4 match in a row to open the season and return to the court on Friday to take on Vassar.
